The Topeka Town Council on April 14 approved routine minutes and financial reports and took a string of votes to hire seasonal staff and purchase equipment.
Council President Adam Lambright opened the meeting and the council unanimously approved the March 24, 2025 minutes, current claims and the March 2025 monthly financial statements. The council then approved hiring three seasonal part‑time East Park diamond coordinators—Richard Miller, Dalton Schmidt and Judson Schrock—by motion of Marlynn Mast.
The council awarded a quote for three dash and two dual‑head mobile radios to Rocky Mountain for $13,400 plus shipping after receiving competing bids; Justin Geigley moved the award and the motion passed unanimously. The Ohio Street sewer installation contract was awarded to Sunny Brook Excavating for $12,500, also on a unanimous vote. Council approved purchasing a Keystone Cooperative fuel‑tracking system for $6,620 and authorized advertising used truck beds for sale via silent bid, each on unanimous motions.
Town Manager Stewart Bender was authorized to sign an RFP affidavit related to Biggs Construction after a motion by Justin Geigley. The council also approved an hourly rental arrangement for the town street sweeper for outside users (Millersburg requested rental at $100 per hour), while noting that repeated regular use would prompt drafting a formal interlocal agreement.
The meeting closed with a unanimous motion to adjourn at 5:18 p.m.
