Union City approves paving payments, liquid fuels disbursement and funds transfer to higher-yield account

The Union City Borough Council on June 25 approved several finance and paving-related items, including payment of a Cross Paving invoice, county aid application for a seal-coat project and a transfer to a higher-yield PLGIT account.
Council approved disbursing $92,130.00 from Liquid Fuels funds and $12,610.81 from the general fund to satisfy a Cross Paving invoice totaling $104,740.81 for the 2024 paving project. The motion to approve the Liquid Fuels disbursement carried unanimously.
Council also passed a resolution to apply $15,625 in county aid toward the payment due Suit-Kote for the 2024 seal coat project. The motion carried unanimously.
Separately, the council authorized opening a new PLGIT Checking & Prime account and transferring approximately $140,000 from the Capital Equipment account (currently at a lower rate) to earn higher interest. Councilor Kerns moved the transfer and Councilor Steadman seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The meeting also addressed the disposition of millings from the paving project: Union Township will grind millings and track usage; a load will go to Evergreen Cemetery and Council approved supplying 2–3 loads to the American Legion ballfield. Councilors said the township would grade any dumped millings.
Council did not record any dissent during these votes. Staff indicated follow-up on accounting and logistics will occur as payments and transfers are completed.
