HOBART, Ind. — The Maria Reiner Center Board of Directors met April 30 and unanimously approved the minutes of March 26, 2025, and the center’s March financial report.
Board President Trey Gilliana called the meeting to order at 9:04 a.m. and a roll call recorded six members present and three absent. On separate motions the board accepted the minutes and the meeting agenda; both motions passed 6-0.
Executive Director Aimee Schallenkamp reported several upcoming community activities: a Mother's Day luncheon on May 8 (food sponsored by Home Instead; desserts and punch provided by Heart to Heart and Traditions Health), a day trip to Shipshewana on May 29, and a blood drive on May 28. Schallenkamp asked board members to suggest candidates for an open board seat, noting the center would welcome an attorney and someone with fundraising and grant-writing experience.
The board approved vouchers submitted as of April 30 totaling $1,393.14 after correcting a paperwork error that set the Vego Garden Beds cost at $749.85 and confirmed the corrected total. The motion to accept the corrected claim record was made by Lynn Kostbade and seconded by Pam Ridings; the vote was recorded as all aye, motion carried (6-0).
Dee Bedella moved to approve the March 2026 financial report showing total cash and investments of $168,436.51; the motion, seconded by Carol Heikema, passed unanimously. The board noted that Heikema and Kostbade had been sworn in before the meeting.
