The Holgate Village Council on Jan. 27 approved a series of routine and operational measures, including employee incentive bonuses, a $9,800 expenditure for annual lagoon augmentation and several maintenance contracts.
Councilmember Chris Healy moved to authorize the lagoon augmentation at a cost of $9,800; Councilmember Jeff Rothman seconded and the motion passed with all present members voting yes. Healy, a council member who initiated several motions during the meeting, said the lagoon expenditure was part of the village's yearly maintenance program.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved employee incentive bonuses after returning from an executive session on personnel. Councilmember Nick Stephy moved to approve the bonuses and Chris Healy seconded. The council approved the payments: Briggs, $200; Jason Michel (Village Administrator), $200; Chupa, $150; Delgado, $100; and Gustwiller, $75. The minutes record Mike Medina as absent for the vote.
The council also accepted maintenance and repair quotes. Councilmember Jamie Hohenberger moved and Chris Healy seconded to accept a $2,500 quote from Complete Restoration for maintenance on the tanks; the motion carried. Healy moved and Nick Stephy seconded to accept a $1,600 quote from WOOLACE to wire a new pump at the lift station; the motion carried.
On procedural items, the council approved the minutes of the previous meeting (motion by Jamie Hohenberger, second by Nick Stephy) and scheduled a finance meeting for Feb. 10 at 6:30 p.m. (motion by Chris Healy, second by Nick Stephy). The council also approved the bills presented and adjourned at 8:50 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Feb. 10 at 7:00 p.m.
During general discussion, resident Mark Baker asked for follow-up on a Wessler Engineering presentation from the prior meeting; councilors said staff is working with Wessler Engineering to resolve the outstanding items. Councilmembers also asked for earlier morning snow removal and Jeff Rothman suggested contacting Toledo Edison to learn how residents can enroll in budget-billing programs.
All votes and motions listed in this summary are drawn from the meeting minutes. When the transcript duplicated a name in one recorded vote (see timeline entry for the executive session), the published record was treated conservatively: recorded yes votes for that motion are listed only for names that appear once in the transcript’s vote line.
