City Council approves county hazard plan and moves ahead on water project and purchase contract

At its July 8 meeting the City Council unanimously approved three resolutions, including adoption of the Henry County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan and authorizations advancing a water project and a proposed water purchase contract with the City of Napoleon; a water committee meeting on rates was set for July 22.
Mayor Elva Wyandt called the City Council to order July 8. Councilmembers Mike Medina, Chris Healy, Jeffery Rothman, Ricardo Valdez and Nick Stephy were present; Jamie Hohenberger was absent.
The council approved the minutes of the previous meeting after a motion by Councilmember Chris Healy and a second from Councilmember Nick Stephy. The same five members then voted to approve three resolutions recorded on the agenda.
Resolution 24-06 was approved following a motion by Councilmember Jeffery Rothman and a second from Councilmember Chris Healy. The minutes describe Resolution 24-06 as adopting the Henry County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan; the vote was 5–0 with one member absent.
The council next approved Resolution 24-07 on a motion by Councilmember Chris Healy, seconded by Councilmember Nick Stephy. The resolution authorizes the mayor and/or fiscal officer to post and accept quotes for the council’s water project; the tally was recorded as 5–0 with one absence.
Councilmembers then approved Resolution 24-08 after a motion by Councilmember Chris Healy and a second from Councilmember Jeffery Rothman. The meeting minutes state that this resolution authorizes a water purchase contract with the City of Napoleon; the vote was 5–0 with Councilmember Jamie Hohenberger absent.
The council recorded that a water committee meeting will take place July 22 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss water rates, a committee-level item noted on the agenda. The bills presented to the council were approved on a motion by Councilmember Chris Healy, seconded by Councilmember Mike Medina (vote 5–0, one absent), and the meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m. on a motion by Councilmember Mike Medina, seconded by Councilmember Nick Stephy. The next regular meeting is scheduled for July 22 at 7:00 p.m.
