Entrepreneur and preservationist address Lumpkin council; historic-district discussion set for March

At the start of the Feb. 11, 2025 meeting, local resident Carl Torresson told the council he plans to open a pizzeria in Lumpkin and thanked councilmembers for their assistance; he said he plans to open by April 15.
Allison Slocum, speaking for an RVRC Historic District effort, told the council she had reviewed prior files related to establishing a Lumpkin Historic District and could not find a signed ordinance from the 1999 effort. She distributed materials and asked to return next month to speak with council members; Mayor Jimmy Babb agreed to hear her in March.
Separately, Clerk Anne Holloway told the council that meeting materials included 1099 forms and that the city tax sale is scheduled for the second Tuesday of September 2025. She also reported mechanical problems with the leave-and-limb truck and said staff should seek a used truck capable of towing the trailer.
Next steps: Allison Slocum will return in March to continue the historic-district discussion; Mr. Torresson will proceed with his business plans and reported an April 15 target opening date.
