Field Local board approves extensive personnel slate, policies and vendor contracts

The Field Local Board of Education unanimously approved a Superintendent consent agenda at its April 14 meeting that included a long list of personnel actions, policy adoptions and vendor contracts.
Member Randy Porter moved and Member Larry Stewart seconded the motion to approve the consent agenda, which the board adopted on a unanimous roll call. The packet included certified hires (for example, Kristen Flinner as middle school music teacher effective Aug. 19, 2025), classified hires and substitute appointments, and the awarding of limited tutor and OAPSE contracts for 2025–26.
The board accepted the retirement of Kari Walchalk, District Literacy Coach, effective June 1, 2025; the minutes note Walchalk expressed interest in rehiring under FLTA contract provisions. The board also accepted several resignations and non-renewals, including Betsy Nienhius (CLC paraprofessional), with effective dates listed in the personnel section.
Members approved dozens of supplemental contracts for athletics and academic leadership for 2024–25 and 2025–26 (assistant and head coaches, department heads, advisors and club leaders). Notable entries in the supplemental listings included Eric Carr as band director and a slate of varsity and middle-school football coaches and advisors; the board packet lists each position, years of experience and contract amounts as presented.
The board conducted the second and final reading of multiple policies, including items on substitute employment, enrollment (resident/nonresident and homeless students), dangerous weapons and violent conduct, administering medication, seizure safety, teaching about religion, extracurricular activities, College Credit Plus and federal grant procurement and inventory procedures. Those policies were adopted as presented.
The consent agenda also approved vendor agreements, including a primary service plan with Summit Educational Service Center for preschool and audiology consortium services and a contract with Harbor Education Services, LLC for special-needs services for 2025–26. The board approved a student accident insurance option from Guarantee Trust Life Insurance for K–12 students for 2025–26.
The board did not amend these consent items during the meeting; the motions passed on recorded roll-call votes recorded in the minutes. The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
