City manager reports award, Cox opt-out confirmations and a strong Farmers Market opening

City Manager Sonny Lewis used his report at the June 1 meeting to relay three administrative updates.
Lewis said the city received a Safety Council of Southwestern Ohio award in the Group Category for a low incident rate for the second consecutive year; he noted the recognition will benefit the city’s workers’ compensation group rating. Lewis also reported that Cox Ohio has begun sending confirmations for curbside advertisement opt-out forms submitted on the city website and that the company has removed sales distribution from several addresses; residents who do not receive confirmation were advised to re-submit the form and to contact Cox if delivery continues after three weeks.
On local commerce, Lewis said the Farmers Market opened that Saturday with a large crowd and strong vendor sales: two vendors told him they had sold more that weekend than on any opening day in their seven years of participation. He reported there were no incidents and noted that the market’s offering should grow as more produce becomes available.
Councilors commented in support: several praised the Farmers Market success, one councilor reported curbside ads had ceased at his address after using the online opt-out form, and Council expressed appreciation for staff work during the State of Emergency.
The council adjourned at 6:21 PM.
