The Chevelon Butte School District Governing Board approved its adopted budget for fiscal year 2025–26 at a regularly scheduled meeting on July 10, 2025.
Business Manager Angela Plantholt presented the adopted budget and told the board the district is prepared for the start of school, which is scheduled for the end of July. Dr. Laurie Hawke moved to approve the budget as presented; Ms. Judy MullikinFernandez seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
The board also approved the consent agenda, which included accounts payable voucher #2529 for $49,279.11 and payroll voucher #26 for $11,942.36. Those motions were moved and seconded and carried without opposition.
Superintendent Brownfield updated the board on recent state‑level discussion, saying he attended a State Board meeting where members of the public raised questions about Arizona’s ESA voucher proposals. Board member Amy Snodgrass reported that HB2610 was vetoed by the Governor and noted that Arizona ranks 49th nationally for public spending per pupil.
Transportation and operations reports preceded the budget vote. Transportation Manager Mr. Burrows delivered his final director’s report, saying bus inspections were completed on July 7; Bus #23 is currently in Heber and will be picked up soon for the district office. He said an electrical permit had lapsed but an extension was granted and the bus is ready for inspection.
The board set its next regular meeting for Aug. 14, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the district office in Forest Lakes. Draft minutes for the July 10 meeting were prepared by Angela Plantholt and will be submitted for approval at the next meeting.
