The Village of Fort Recovery council voted unanimously Sept. 16 to award the Butler Street construction contract to Tom's Construction, the low bidder on the project.
Village staff said the engineer's estimate for the project was $1,614,979; the lowest bid received was $1,433,997 from Tom's Construction. The village received three bids (Toms Construction, M&T Excavating of Bradford and Shinn Brothers) and staff recommended Tom's as the lowest and best bidder. Luke Knapke moved to approve the contract and Cliff Wendel seconded; the motion carried with all council members voting yes.
Officials said they will schedule a pre-construction meeting to discuss timing, any contract changes and whether the bid includes parking adjustments. The village will also coordinate with utilities and ask the contractor to confirm the project scope and schedule.
Council did not record any amendments to the contract award during the meeting; further details and the formal contract are expected to be finalized at the pre-construction meeting.
