Police discuss replacement vehicle options, training and staffing ahead of summer events

Council asked staff to seek Tahoe pricing for comparison and to ensure all pricing and upfit estimates are based on state‑bid compliance rules. Laux said a Tahoe has a larger turning radius than a Durango but provides different storage options; he recommended getting a Tahoe price and confirming upfit and decal costs.
Laux also noted staffing plans for upcoming events: the department needs one additional officer for the tractor pull and has advertised Fort Recovery Night Out; he is arranging some donations and listed active‑shooter and Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) sessions that will bring officers toward the required training hours.
Council direction: staff should price alternative vehicle options (Tahoe) on state bid, include upfit and decal costs, and confirm any bidding requirements before purchasing. Laux was asked to report back with firm numbers and state‑bid documentation.
