Geneva-on-the-Lake council adopts multiple emergency ordinances and resolutions

GENEVA-ON-THE-LAKE, Ohio — The Village Council voted on July 8 to adopt a package of emergency resolutions and ordinances covering event parking restrictions, equipment leasing, surplus-property disposal and street maintenance, and it amended 2024 departmental appropriations.
The council moved quickly through multiple items presented by Council Member P. J. Macchia and seconded by Council President Matt Caudill. Resolutions to restrict parking and close streets for two summer events — Resolution 2024-33 for the PennOhio ATCA Truck Show (July 13) and Resolution 2024-34 for 'Mini’s take over GOTL' (July 21) — were approved after motions to declare an emergency, to waive three readings and to act were passed by roll call votes.
Ordinance 2024-35, authorizing a 60-month lease and state/local government addendum with Ohio Business Machine/Leaf Capital Funding LLC for copier equipment and services, was approved under emergency procedures. The council also passed Ordinance 2024-36 to permit disposal of surplus personal property via internet auction and Resolution 2024-37 to proceed with street electrical lighting improvements; each measure was approved by roll call.
On matters involving operations and money, the council approved Resolution 2024-38, declaring the necessity of street cleaning and snow and ice removal, and Ordinance 2024-39, which amends 2024 appropriations across departments. For both measures Council Member Don Woodward recorded a no vote while the other five members voted yes; each measure passed by a 5–1 margin.
Routine business included a motion to pay the village bills and acceptance of the June 17 minutes; both procedural motions passed unanimously. The meeting ended with a motion to adjourn, which passed despite a no vote from Woodward.
