Music Garden committee reports completion of landscaping, plans fundraiser and bird-house project

Members of the Music Garden committee told the Glandorf Village Council on June 17 that concrete work and landscaping for the Music Garden are complete, but that mower marks may appear where new sidewalks meet grass. The mayor will seek a quote for artificial turf in those transition areas.
The committee said it is exploring painting the new concrete in color to create a multi-sensory entrance and will obtain an estimate from Custom Concrete/Ryan Hovest. The committee also announced a Princess in the Park fundraiser scheduled for Aug. 23 to raise funds for the Music Garden; they reported selling 120 tickets and having 65 people on a waitlist and indicated they may add an additional time slot to accommodate demand.
Council approved the committee’s request to sell and install painted bird houses around the Music Garden; the minutes note the bird houses will be solid on all four sides and would not function as bird habitat. The committee presented wording for a descriptive plaque for the St. Cecila statue; the plaque text will be reviewed by the village solicitor and an update provided at a future meeting.
