Glenwillow council approves bulletproof vest grant, personnel change, road agreements and service contracts
Summary
During its Aug. 7 meeting, Glenwillow Council unanimously approved multiple ordinances and resolutions including acceptance of an Ohio bulletproof vest grant, an amendment to employee vacation eligibility, a joint improvement agreement with Oakwood for Richmond Road drainage work, and service/contract approvals for equipment and the service center HVAC.
The Village of Glenwillow Council unanimously approved a slate of ordinances and resolutions at its Aug. 7 meeting, accepting state and county funding and authorizing contracts and roadwork agreements.
Law Director Mark Marong reviewed the key agenda items before the votes, which included acceptance of the 2024 Ohio Law Enforcement Bulletproof Vest Program grant (Ordinance 2024-8-23), an amendment to the Administrative Code updating employee vacation eligibility (Ordinance 2024-8-24), and a joint improvement agreement with the Village of Oakwood for Richmond Road reconstruction and drainage improvements (Ordinance 2024-8-25). Council also authorized the purchase of a Cushman Truckster through SourceWell from Baker Vehicle Systems (Ordinance 2024-8-26) and accepted Nerone & Sons' proposal for the Pettibone Road emergency valve pit project (Resolution 2024-8-55).
Separately, the council approved a Connected Building Service Agreement with Trane U.S., Inc. for the Glenwillow Service Center (Resolution 2024-8-56) and an agreement with the Ohio Rebels Sports Club permitting use of the Donald N. Payne Recreational Complex for the 2024 fall baseball season (Resolution 2024-8-57). All motions to suspend the three-reading rule and final approvals recorded roll-call votes and carried with six yeas and no nays.
Engineer Mike Henry also informed the council that Pettibone Road will be closed between Austin Powder Drive and Cochran Road beginning Aug. 19 for approximately seven days to support planned work; detour signage and business access will be maintained.
Council comments included a recommendation from Councilmember Don Banas for a 3.5% salary increase for Clerk of Council Lori Kovach; council scheduled a Recreation Committee meeting for Sept. 4. The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m.
