Glandorf council authorizes 2025 street bid solicitations, sidewalk work and several equipment purchases

The Glandorf Village Council on Feb. 4, 2025 authorized sending bid requests for its 2025 street projects and approved a set of equipment purchases intended to support town maintenance operations.

Mayor David Dalrymple said the Street Committee recommended the projects; the council approved moving forward with soliciting bids. Doug Trombley moved to authorize the bid requests and Scott Buckland seconded; the motion carried unanimously.

The Street Committee also recommended replacing or installing sidewalks at 10 locations around town. Mayor Dalrymple and council member Kristen Gerding‑Heffner said they will prepare and hand-deliver letters to residents who would be affected by the sidewalk work.

Administrative purchases approved at the meeting included two new mowers under a bid from Homier & Sons for approximately $17,000 with trade-ins; the mayor said the village will check pricing with local vendor Ag Pro before final purchase. Doug Trombley moved to approve purchasing two mowers; Scott Buckland seconded and the motion passed.

Separately, water and sewer operational needs prompted approval to purchase a new lift‑station pump, recommended by Chris Recker because of the age and number of rebuilds on existing pumps. The council authorized buying a pump for an amount not to exceed $25,000; Zachary Klausing moved for the purchase and Kristen Gerding‑Heffner seconded. The new pump is to be installed along with a rebuilt pump; one removed pump will be discarded and another will be inspected and rebuilt as a backup for storage.

An auto‑dialer from Kahle Technologies to notify Mark Kaufman and Alan Wrasman if the lift‑station alarm activates was scheduled for installation.

Council members said the procurement steps are intended to maintain public infrastructure and ensure timely maintenance response.
