Glenwillow officials opened a public hearing on Aug. 7 to discuss potential projects for Cuyahoga County’s 2025 supplemental grant programs, identifying an ADA upgrade to Donald N. Payne Park’s playground and a path improvement from South Village Lane to the ballfield as top candidates.
Engineer Mike Henry summarized the two programs available for application and the Village’s recent success securing county funds. He described the Community Development Supplemental Grant (CDSG) as a competitive award of up to $50,000 and said the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is available up to $150,000. According to Henry, the Village is likely to target CDBG funds for the playground replacement to achieve ADA compliance and CDSG funds for improvements to the path connecting South Village Lane to the ballfield.
Mayor Mark A. Cegelka opened and closed the hearing (which ran from 7:05 p.m. to 7:10 p.m.), and the required sign-in sheet was collected as part of the application package. The Village has used similar county grants in prior years for trails, playgrounds, the veterans memorial and depot decking, Henry noted, and staff will prepare formal applications consistent with county deadlines.
The public hearing record, including the sign-in sheet submitted with the application materials, is part of the meeting packet. Council did not take a vote at the hearing; any formal application or project scope will return to council for approval if required.
