Rancho Cordova council approves consent items; mayor cites $4 million toward road connector

Mayor Gatewood moved approval of the consent calendar and a council member seconded; the clerk called the roll and recorded affirmative votes for the council members present. The clerk’s roll call recorded Council member Polapotti (yes), Council member Little (yes), Council member Sander (aye), Vice Mayor Budge (yes) and Mayor Gatewood (yes). The clerk announced the motion passes and the council proceeded to other business.
During council reports, Mayor Gatewood recognized recent community activity and volunteers and said the city’s lobbying efforts secured an additional $4,000,000 from named officials toward a road‑connector project intended to relieve traffic on Sunrise Boulevard and serve future development. Gatewood described the funding as a significant step for building the connector ahead of additional development.
Council members also offered community updates, including multiple graduation ceremonies, cultural festivals and recognition of longtime volunteer Lloyd Langerstrom, who recently died. A council member also asked that the body note the passing of former coach Rick Adelman.
With no further business, Mayor Gatewood adjourned the meeting in honor of Lloyd Langerstrom.
