Board holds Odell House change orders for more due diligence; approves interim outside counsel retention

Town staff asked the board on July 9 to hold a resolution authorizing change orders for the Odell House (CD 2) so the architect of record can complete additional due diligence and possibly reduce the estimated change-order amount. Staff said CD1 (supplemental services tied to the Odell House) will be scheduled for the August 15 agenda after a numbering change in the packet.
Separately, staff explained a resolution (AT-3) authorizing the interim retention of Morris Duffy to handle notices of claims and litigation matters. The town attorney said the retention is temporary while the town continues to recruit a deputy in-house attorney and that Morris Duffy has previously produced favorable results.
The board moved to go into executive session to discuss legal, personnel and contractual issues and to seek legal advice; the motion passed by voice vote and members said they would reconvene the next day at 7:30.
