Lynnfield election results announced; Alexis Leahy elected Select Board chair

Jarosz reported that Joseph Gallagher defeated incumbent Philip Crawford (reported 1086 to 842) and that Brian Lambert defeated Jillian String (reported 999 to 928). She also reported that E. Paige Wilkins defeated Gregory Antonelli; the transcript records the Wilkins–Antonelli vote total as "1346544," which appears to be a transcription error and is not specified in the official record in the transcript. Jarosz said write-in tallies for the Board of Assessors were still being tabulated. Jarosz then administered the oath of office to winners present, including Joseph Gallagher, Darlene Samikkannu Kumar, Brian Lambert, Thomas Bogart and E. Paige Wilkins.
Following the swearing-in, the board returned to business and elected new officers by motion: Richard Dalton moved, seconded by Joseph Gallagher, that Alexis Leahy be elected chair; Mr. Gallagher moved, seconded by Ms. Leahy, that Richard Dalton be elected vice chair; and Mr. Dalton moved, seconded by Ms. Leahy, that Joseph Gallagher be elected clerk. All motions were recorded as carried by the board.
Leahy, newly elected chair, thanked her fellow board members and said she looks forward to collaborative work with clearer responsibilities between the board and town administration, forecasting and consistent communication. "To move forward we need to be innovative in thinking and actions," Leahy said, adding that she aims to help create a Lynnfield "committed to belonging and accountability." Outgoing Chair Philip Crawford thanked residents and colleagues and said it had been an honor to serve.
The board adjourned at 9:09 p.m.
