The Lynnfield Select Board on May 4, 2026 unanimously accepted a donation of $64,927.54 from the Summer Street School Parent Teacher Organization for the Summer Street School playground, approved several event and facilities permits, appointed Dennis Rogers to the LIFE Board, and received budget and public works updates.
Vice Chair Richard Dalton moved to accept the donation under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A; the motion was seconded by Joe Gallagher and approved unanimously. The board recorded the donation amount as $64,927.54 and specified that the funds are to be used by the Department of Public Works for the Summer Street School Playground Project.
The board interviewed Dennis Rogers and voted unanimously to appoint him to the LIFE Board of Directors for a term expiring June 30, 2029. The minutes note that Paul Liburdi and Al DiVirgilio had been interviewed on March 30 and that the LIFE Board recommended Rogers' appointment.
Chair Alexis Leahy presented the annual proposed liaison assignments and the board approved them on a motion moved by Richard Dalton and seconded by Joe Gallagher. Finance Director David Castellarin and Town Administrator Robert Dolan presented a three‑year budget analysis and initiated an initial discussion about the FY2028 budget process; no formal budget votes were taken.
The board approved facilities permit requests subject to conditions placed by the Public Works Director; items approved included the Memorial Day Parade (May 25), a Tree Committee tree walk (June 30, rain date July 1), the town's 250th Anniversary celebration (June 19–21) and Juneteenth activities including a second flag raising on the common and "Lynnfield for Love" on June 13.
DPW Director John Scenna provided an update on project timelines and scope and the board and members of the public discussed next steps; the board agreed to meet again in July or August for another update. The meeting adjourned at 9:15 p.m.
