Marina manager (Kathy) outlines $420,000 fuel-tank replacement, pedestals and revenue measures

The marina manager, addressed in the meeting by the first name Kathy, presented the Marina Managers report and focused on prioritized capital projects, operational upgrades and revenue measures for the next budget year.
"The fuel tank replacement project which has been budgeted at 420,000... Prioritized is our number one project," the manager said, adding the installation will use double-wall fiberglass tanks and be a turnkey contract that includes permitting and contractor requirements. She said contractors will be required to meet Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) requirements and that the project timeline would be coordinated with the city's calendar to limit event disruptions.
The manager told the board the marina budgeted about $36,000 to add two new electrical pedestals to the southern end of D Dock to provide a mix of 80-amp, 50-amp and 30-amp service and that older water lines on A and B docks will be replaced with more robust plastic piping because the original design exposed lines to wave action and repeated failures.
Operational changes aimed at saving fees include enabling large wire transfers (the manager said one upcoming transfer will save about $1,800 in credit-card fees) and rolling out ACH for annual slip holders. She said the marina is also evaluating new credit-card processors to reduce fees.
On safety and asset protection, the manager said camera coverage was expanded to about eight cameras, noting placements that include the ADA ramp, docks, ship's store and bathhouse doors. She also reported continued boardwalk repairs and new wood railings.
The manager highlighted confirmed American Cruise Lines reservations through December 2025, saying the reservations are expected to generate about $76,000 in revenue on the books. She closed by thanking departing Commissioner Chip Ross for seven years of attendance and advocacy.
Board members asked operational questions about permitting, fuel access during construction (plans to direct customers to nearby Port Consolidated or Amelia for diesel/unleaded), and whether any of the fuel-line work would be affected if Brett's were demolished; the manager said the fuel lines run adjacent to Brett's under the boardwalk and not under the structure, so the project would not be wasted if the building were removed.
The board did not take a formal vote on capital items during this meeting; the manager said the fuel-tank project will be put out to bid and will require commission resolutions and approvals before contract award.
