Mansfield council schedules sewer contract signing, discusses downtown parking and Spectrum broadband work

Mayor Blair Northen told the council the sewer treatment plant contract is ready for final signatures on Monday, Feb. 17 at 2 p.m. at City Hall; no vote on the contract occurred at the Feb. 10 meeting.
The mayor outlined plans to address downtown parking as business activity and population grow. He described a possible 2-acre lot diagonal from Roosters and a separate green-space/parking area behind the depot, next to the trail, that could include public restrooms. No site plan or funding details were presented at the meeting.
Northen also reminded the audience that a no-parking ordinance for Main Street (Hwy 11 from County Road 213 to Kellogg) was passed last year; he said enforcement will begin after the Department of Transportation completes signs and pavement markings and the sheriff’s office implements enforcement.
On broadband, Northen said Spectrum is completing the second phase of work in Mansfield and replacing about four poles so more residents will have an internet option. The council did not take procurement or permitting actions related to Spectrum during this session.
