Spencer Bowen of the city manager’s office summarized the state‑mandated process and said staff had posted required notices and accepted the hoteliers’ annual report earlier in June. "We have yet to receive any protests," the city manager added when council asked about objections; the hearing was closed and staff action adopted.
Council also presented a proclamation declaring June 2026 as Bridal Month, with Councilmember David reading the proclamation and community health partners from Communicare addressing the council. Sarah Gavin, Chief Behavioral and Community Health Officer for Communicare, thanked the council for support and described Communicare’s services for Medi‑Cal and uninsured residents. "At the heart of our work is a belief that every person deserves access to comprehensive high quality care," Gavin said.
Lex Salgado, a program coordinator at Communicare’s Elevate Youth program, described grant‑funded peer support for queer youth and connected the work to Woodland Pride activities scheduled June 20. The council also adopted a Juneteenth proclamation honoring the historical significance of June 19 and urging continued work to address systemic inequity.
These proclamations were ceremonial actions recognizing community events and services; the TBID action authorizes staff to proceed with the assessment and related funding for tourism promotion.
