Middletown clerk-treasurer to leave June 4; council appoints interim deputy and approves temporary pay

Council member Dan Fountain moved that Mundell be paid, during the period he fills in, the equivalent hourly rate of the Clerk-Treasurer’s salary as stated in the Salary Ordinance. Gary Kendall seconded the motion, which the council approved unanimously. Four council members voted yes; one member, Dick Schwalm, was recorded absent.
The council made no further changes to the town’s payroll policy in the meeting and adjourned after the vote. The minutes record the appointment and the temporary pay authorization but do not specify the exact hourly amounts or the name of a successor clerk-treasurer.
