Trustees press for deadlines on Nebraska Street memo and Vallejo High security gates

Trustee Fox pressed the 2x2 committee for clear timelines and confirmation that previously promised funding remains available for the installation of security gates in front of Vallejo High School.

Tony Hsu said the consultant's draft memo on Nebraska Street — which addresses side streets and intersections related to the proposed closure — arrived May 15 and was forwarded to the city attorney for review. Hsu said he had no further updates from the attorney's office.

Interim city manager Harry Black, on his eighth day, asked the superintendent or district staff to email a clear list of items they want updates on so his office can chase them down and provide detailed responses. "If you get me the email, you'll have a response within 48 hours," he said.

Trustee Fox described prolonged delays: the gates have been discussed for years and were expected to be installed last winter; a neighbor complaint and new laws contributed to hold-ups. She asked that installation be completed before students return in early August and that a public schedule and confirmation of secured funds be provided.
