Council reviewed Fire Committee minutes from Dec. 11 and discussed repairs needed to the old brush truck and funding options during the Dec. 18 special meeting.
Butch Chapman reported meeting with Fire Chief Henry about additional lettering quotes; he said he could not secure help with wheels and tires. Committee members and Councilperson Cameron Lowery emphasized getting the vehicle into service first, with an estimated $1,600 needed for lights and sirens. Council discussed budgeting the costs now and replacing funds if the skid unit sells.
Eric Clift asked for clarification about the Fire Fund balance; Fiscal Officer Heather Rockwell said the fund is projected to carry over a larger balance than expected because a budgeted grant item remains unresolved and she will confirm whether the grant was awarded.
Council attempted to suspend the rules and read Ordinances 2024-17 and 2024-18 by title, but both motions were rescinded because required attachments or minimum threshold fields were missing. Council agreed to table the ordinances until the January meeting and requested the Fire Chief attend to provide minimum thresholds for Ordinance 2024-18.
