SolTrans readies systemwide redesign for Aug. 2 with community outreach and new bus-stop signs

“Mandy” — who led the presentation — said the agency had completed 30 of 37 planned outreach events and is targeting transit centers, schools and community events. She told the board the outreach included the Vallejo Special Olympics 50th anniversary, Solano Community College events and Benicia senior center visits, and that staff are coordinating directly with school‑district staff to help students and families navigate school‑assignment and route changes.
Mandy also announced SolTrans had received its first 100 standardized bus‑stop blades and that staff will begin a phased installation and public-facing sign rollout ahead of the redesign. “We picked up our first 100 signs, the new bus stop blades … they're in my office right now,” she said, noting the blades follow regional MTC standards and aim to make stops easier to understand.
Board members raised accessibility and digital‑literacy concerns after outreach to multilingual riders; Mayor Hernandez said printed materials have been left at City Hall to help riders without phones or with low digital literacy. Board members urged more prominent website placement for schedule and map information and suggested QR codes and multi‑language display options at stops and online.
The board received the informational presentation; staff said schedules and event locations will be released publicly and that additional outreach events (including three after the DVC fall term begins) are planned.
