Fire Chief Ronnie Roach told the council residents should have furnaces and wood stoves cleaned and serviced ahead of winter, noting the season typically generates the most home fire-related calls. Council President John H. Lindley thanked the police and fire departments for participating in the town's Block Party during the Fall Fun Fest.
Town Clerk Robert F. Henderson said the town crew will hang Hometown Heroes banners for Veterans Day; the banners will remain through the end of November. Henderson also reported that Radius presented a $750 check to the town to support trailhead maintenance.
The council set Trick-or-Treat for Oct. 31 from 6 to 9 p.m., asking participating households to turn on porch lights, urging youngsters to use sidewalks where available and asking drivers to use extra caution in residential areas that evening.
The meeting concluded after a motion to adjourn by Councilman John F. Noblitt and a second from Councilman Randy Clark. The minutes are signed by Council President John H. Lindley and Clerk-Treasurer Robert F. Henderson Jr.
