Orleans council announces leaf pickup, winter-prep plans and job posting; meeting time shifted

Town Superintendent Daniel Houchin told the Orleans Town Council on Nov. 5 that the town has started pickup of bagged leaves.
Houchin asked residents to keep trash and bagged leaves separate for pickup, to rake leaves to the tree plat (the area between curb and sidewalk) rather than into the street, and reminded attendees that burning leaves on town streets is not permitted. He also said the town’s leaf-machine crews will move from pile to pile until all leaves are collected and then repeat the circuit as necessary.
Houchin reported his department is conducting winter-type preparations around town and noted that the week of Nov. 9–15 has been proclaimed Winter Weather Preparedness Week across Indiana.
The council announced it is accepting applications for a part-time planning-administrator position; applicants should apply during regular business hours at the clerk-treasurer’s office, according to the minutes.
Council members agreed to change the start time of the regular Nov. 20 meeting from 5:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The minutes also record that an executive session will follow the Dec. 3 work session to conduct annual employee evaluations.
With no other business on the agenda, Councilman Randy Clark moved to adjourn, Councilman John F. Noblitt seconded, and the meeting was adjourned at approximately 10:21 a.m.
