Jaffrey Select Board approves routine items, community event permits, and schedules pump-station follow-up

The Select Board handled routine business and community permits during its May 27 public session. The consent agenda passed 3–0 and included payroll and vendor manifest approvals; two abatements for Monadnock Disposal Service, Inc.; two land use change tax items; multiple capital reserve fund withdrawals (ambulance coverage, gravestone restoration, retirement buyout, municipal building maintenance and other small items); and the town’s first-issue property tax warrants totaling $8,840,034 for property tax, plus Stonebridge and Downtown TIFD amounts. The board also approved the Tax Collector’s fifth cycle water and sewer commitment warrants and appointed Peter Chamberlain and Ken Prien to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
The board approved several community-event resolutions: Resolution #2026-17 (America’s Potluck, Jaffrey Historical Society, July 5) was approved with the condition of a completed Facility Usage form; Resolution #2026-18 (First Church in Jaffrey annual church fair, Aug. 5) and Resolution #2026-19 (JFFCI 5K, Sept. 19) were recorded as approved in the minutes. Resolution #2026-22 authorizing a July 4 reading of the Declaration of Independence was also approved 3–0.
On infrastructure follow-up, staff generated an inspection list for the Stony Brook sewer pump station and Tony (staff) will meet with the developer to resolve non-major items; this was recorded as a staff follow-up rather than a transfer decision. In reports, the Cemetery Committee work, an Eagle Scout kiosk, tree-removal needs (Conant estimated near $90,000), Planning Board activity on the former Rite Aid site, HDC dormer approval, school parking occupancy, Priority Power’s purchase of Standard Power (no immediate ESA changes), and Letourneau Drive bridge final walk-through were all noted.
The minutes close with notice of a planned non-public session under RSA 91-A:3 II(j) and (l) and the chairman’s adjournment of the meeting.
