Glandorf council unanimously approves $458,068 tanker for fire department

The Glandorf Village Council voted unanimously on July 24 to purchase a Kenworth 3,000-gallon vacuum/pressure-pump aluminum tanker to replace its 2001 tanker, approving the $458,068 estimate at a special meeting.
Mayor David Dalrymple presented a cost breakdown showing the chassis priced at $156,228 and the apparatus at $301,840. The Glandorf Fire Department will contribute $60,000 toward the purchase, with the remaining balance to be shared among the village, Ottawa Township and Greensburg Township. The Fire Chief requested approval to place the order before a scheduled chassis price increase on Aug. 1; Doug Trombley moved to approve the purchase and Kristen Gerding-Heffner seconded. A roll-call vote recorded Aye from Brian Inkrott, Scott Buckland, Dale Warnecke, Kristen Gerding-Heffner, Zachary Klausing and Doug Trombley.
Councilors also discussed a recent rise in calls the Glandorf Fire Department is answering in the Village of Ottawa. Council members raised whether Glandorf should begin charging Ottawa for some runs to offset fuel costs and additional wear on apparatus; Mayor Dalrymple said he will speak with Ottawa’s mayor and report the results back to council.
Fiscal Officer Sharon Stechschulte told the council that the 2023–2024 financial audit has begun and that fraud-risk assessment (FRAQ) questionnaires were emailed to council members, the mayor, the fiscal officer, the assistant fiscal officer, the solicitor and a randomly selected employee. The questionnaires are due directly to the auditors by July 30, 2025 and must be fully completed.
With no further business, Zachary Klausing moved to adjourn and Brian Inkrott seconded; all members voted in favor and the meeting was adjourned.
