Board hears updates on building renovation, bridge projects and Romig Tract plan; Snell Road bridge punch list and North Adams drawings noted

The Board of Commissioners received several infrastructure and planning updates at its Aug. 4 meeting. Commissioner Raymond W. Lopez reported that renovation work at 1963 East High Street is advancing: brick work and the sally port roof are complete, interior work is underway, ventilation installation is near completion on the second floor, and the generator transfer switch has been delivered to the site.
On bridges, Township Engineer Nick Perilli reported that the final walk‑through for the Snell Road Bridge occurred last month and that minor punch‑list repairs were scheduled to be completed. His firm received the first drawings for the North Adams Street Bridge and will perform a preliminary review before submitting to PennDOT, with submission expected by the end of the week or early next week. For the East High Street Bridge repair schedule, Mr. Wagner said the lane shift would return to normal on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m., PennDOT has hired a consultant and the design contract is expected to be signed in mid‑August; the design phase is estimated to take about three years.
On planning, Manager Wagner said the Planning Commission reviewed the Romig Tract, which has been sold and now carries a proposal for 67 homes; comments from Fire Marshal Lew Babel, the Township engineer and the traffic engineer remain under review and the developer is expected to return in roughly four to five months with a plan.
No formal approvals of construction contracts, subdivisions or ordinances occurred at the Aug. 4 meeting; the Board recorded updates and next steps for engineering review and permitting.
