Police release July activity totals; speed display sign to be placed on Kepler Road after resident complaint

Chief Richard Bell presented the Lower Pottsgrove Police Department's July 2025 activity at the Aug. 4 Board meeting, reporting 1,462 calls for service, 146 traffic citations, six DUI arrests and 30 accident investigations.
Tony Doyle of Kepler Road told commissioners that speeding has increased over the past year and urged placement of a speed display sign. Chief Bell said the Township's existing speed sign will be positioned on Kepler Road and that the device records each passing vehicle's speed so staff can report average, high and low speeds to the Board.
Bell also noted the department participated in the Aggressive Driving Campaign in July and provided the traffic statistics as part of routine monthly reporting. No enforcement policy changes were proposed at the meeting; the sign deployment and the resulting speed data were described as the immediate steps the department will take.
The July police report was presented during the meeting's regular reports and drew no formal motions or votes.
