The Washington City Council unanimously appointed Mike Karamihalis to the Housing Authority Board to replace Jon Waldorf. The motion was made by Councilwoman Susan C. Branan and seconded by Councilman David Fisher; the minutes record a unanimous vote in favor.
Separately the council approved holding a town hall meeting in March 2026 to allow residents to ask questions of the council; Councilwoman Kimberly J. Rainey moved the measure and Councilman Larry Hill seconded. The specific format, duration and agenda for the town hall were left for discussion at the council retreat.
Two proposals introduced by Councilman Newton Gunter'one to prevent failed motions from being reintroduced for three months and another to begin eliminating city districts'failed for lack of a second and were not brought to a vote.
