New township building update: police locker order delay may postpone move; South Sanatoga Road reopens

Township Manager Edward C. Wagner updated the Board on operations and progress at the new township building at the Dec. 1 meeting.
Wagner said South Sanatoga Road reopened that day after earlier closures. He described extra leaf-collection work in December after a calendar error by contractor Mascaro and said township crews and Mascaro recovery trucks have been collecting leaves into the week of the meeting.
On the new township building, Wagner reported the contractor ordered the wrong type of lockers for the Police Department; replacement lockers are on order with an estimated 12–16 week lead time. He said the locker delay could delay police personnel from moving to the new facility while not affecting non-uniform staff. Wagner added that Ridge Support’s Dave Drumheller is coordinating with Verizon Fios to schedule an engineer visit; furniture is still on track for delivery in about two weeks.
Commissioner Raymond W. Lopez shared a working draft of a Facilities Emergency Action Plan for the new headquarters that lists evacuation routes, locations of fire-extinguishers, AEDs and other safety equipment; Lopez said the draft is incomplete but provided it for board review.
Why it matters: The locker-order error creates a potential schedule risk for a department relocation that affects officers’ locker access and readiness. The emergency-action plan and communications infrastructure updates are preparatory steps for occupancy.
Next steps: Staff will monitor locker delivery timing, coordinate final inspection and move planning, and continue Verizon and furniture coordination. The manager agreed to follow up on a resident’s sightline and signage concerns reported during public comment.
