Lower Pottsgrove Township commissioners voted unanimously Monday to reallocate local service tax revenue so that Sanatoga Fire Company receives 70% of those funds and Ringing Hill Fire Company receives 30%.
Commissioner Robert Mohollen, citing statistics showing roughly 70% of initial fire calls originate in Sanatoga’s response area and higher responder rates from Sanatoga members, said the shift is intended to better cover equipment, fuel and personnel burdens on that company. Solicitor Jamie Ottaviano told the board it has the authority to adjust the allocation.
The board also approved Resolution 1380-25 to authorize auction of a 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe police vehicle via Municibid. Mr. Wagner previously reported two retired vehicles sold for $7,400 and $7,600 via Municibid, returning about $15,000 to the township’s General Fund.
In routine financial business the board approved amended Warrant #956 (April), Warrant #957 (May) and accepted the Treasurer’s Reports for May and June 2025. Warrant #958 (June) was noted as incomplete and under review. All approvals were unanimous, with votes recorded at 5-0.
Commissioners said the 70/30 local service tax allocation can be revisited in the future if call patterns or response needs change. The board cancelled its July 24 meeting due to lack of business and adjourned at 7:11 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 4, 2025.
