Paoli schedules July outage and begins water tank rehab; foreman warns 30 hydrants showing low pressure

Utility General Foreman Scott Rutherford told the Paoli Town Council on July 16 that a Water Tank Rehabilitation Project began July 8 and the town’s water tank is currently offline while work continues.
Rutherford said the project has identified about 30 fire hydrants with low pressure and that the job is scheduled to be completed by the end of September 2024. He also said IMPA advised the town of a planned, town‑wide outage by Duke Energy from 12:00 a.m. on July 25 to 6:00 a.m. on July 26 to prevent failure of a main switch; Rutherford recommended alerting residents through social media, the local radio station, the town newspaper, utility bills and Reach Alert.
The council approved Rutherford’s request to clean up accumulated scrap inventory and have it hauled off (motion by Mylea Pluris; second Donna Dillard), 5-0. Rutherford also raised personnel matters and presented four pay-rate increases that the council approved (see separate council actions). Chief Randy Sanders reported June 2024 police statistics and noted Officer Jacob Babcock attended Instructor Development Training at ILEA.
Park Director David Grimes (not present) submitted a proposal to convert underused basketball courts at the new park to pickleball courts, with work anticipated next year.
The council approved all items as recorded in the minutes and adjourned at 7:26 p.m.
