The Hope Select Board heard an update June 25 that Mid Coast Council of Governments (MCOG) will help draft an amendment to the town's LD2003 ordinance to allow additional units on a parcel and to address affordable housing options. The Town Administrator said Max Johnstone of MCOG will meet with the Planning Board on July 2 and the draft is expected to be ready in time for the Annual Town Meeting.
The board's report said MCOG will also assist the town with updating its Comprehensive Plan later in the fall; no specific funding sources or ordinance language were presented at the meeting. The Town Administrator framed the work as preparatory: MCOG will draft language and the Planning Board will review before the Select Board considers any formal warrant article for Town Meeting.
No vote to adopt ordinance language took place at the June 25 meeting. Next steps reported by the Town Administrator include the July 2 Planning Board meeting and subsequent drafting work with MCOG toward a formal proposal for voters at the Annual Town Meeting.
