School board approves $902,375 roof contract, adopts resolutions to move construction project forward

At its Jan. 15 meeting the MSD of New Durham Township board approved an owner-contract agreement with Moisture Management to complete re-roofing work on two roof sections, with the contract cost for the roofing portion listed as $902,375.
Board members discussed the contract and noted the bid was retained from a 2017 solicitation with a 5% increase. Mrs. Hannon moved to approve the agreement and Mr. Parkman seconded; the motion carried.
The board also adopted a series of resolutions tied to the broader summer renovation and construction project. Those resolutions included: a determination of need for the project; approval of preliminary plans and a proposed sixth amendment to an existing lease with authorization to publish a notice of a hearing on the lease; and reapproval of the MSD of New Durham Township School Building Corporation to assist with project financing.
On the resolution determining the need for the project, Mr. Parkman recorded an abstention; other motions related to plans, the lease amendment notice and reapproving the building corporation passed.
In related business the board authorized inter-fund transfers to move balances from obsolete fund numbers into new fund codes (a nine-fund cleanup) as directed by the State Board of Accounts to align district accounting with current fund structure.
What this means: the roof work is formally contracted and the board has taken the formal steps (resolutions and accounting cleanup) needed to advance the construction project and the financing process. Further administrative steps and public notices required by bond and lease procedures will follow.
