The Village of Sugar Grove council voted Aug. 19 to approve retroactive pay increases for Police Chief Jason Costlow and Fiscal Officer Sarah Haley and to adopt an insurance bond covering the fiscal officer.
Mayor Tyson Nye introduced the personnel changes during the regular meeting. Council member Robin Sanborn moved to raise Chief Costlow’s hourly rate to $25, with Gerald Selby seconding; the mayor declared the motion passed, recorded in the minutes as 5-0. Later the council approved Haley’s raise from $2,500 to $3,650 per month, retroactive to July; Sanborn moved and Kendall Leland seconded, and the mayor declared the motion passed (recorded as 5-0).
In a separate action, council member Jay Solenbarger moved to cover Fiscal Officer Haley under PEP Insurance’s Faithful Performance Policy to bond the fiscal officer/ clerk; Solenbarger’s motion was seconded by Robin Sanborn and recorded as passed (5-0). Fiscal Officer Haley was present for that action.
The motions followed routine approvals earlier in the agenda. Fiscal Officer Sarah Haley also presented the financial report and reconciliations; council moved to approve the finance report at the meeting.
