Cotter School District board unanimously approves routine business, names new wing Thomas/Wilhite

The Cotter Public Schools Board of Education met Dec. 12, 2024, and unanimously approved routine business items including the Nov. 21 meeting minutes and the district's November financial reports.
Superintendent Jones reviewed the financial reports and recommended approval. Cameron Ross moved to approve the reports and Luke Walker seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The board approved personnel recommendations submitted by Superintendent Jones following an executive session that ran from 7:15 p.m. to 7:53 p.m. Jimmy Morgan moved to approve the personnel report; Cameron Ross seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
On student transfers, the board approved two petitions to transfer students into the Cotter School District from Mountain Home School District and one petition to transfer a student out to Mountain Home. Cameron Ross moved to approve the incoming transfers, seconded by Jimmy Morgan; Jimmy Morgan moved to approve the outgoing transfer, seconded by Cameron Ross. All transfer motions were approved unanimously.
The board also voted to dedicate a portion of the new building as the Thomas/Wilhite Wing. Superintendent Jones recommended the dedication; Luke Walker moved to approve the naming and Russel Duggins seconded. The motion was approved unanimously.
The meeting was called to order by Board President Allen Franks at 7:00 p.m. and adjourned at 7:57 p.m.
