Sugar Grove council approves fiscal officer as full-time, hires staff and OKs county snow-plowing

The Village of Sugar Grove Council unanimously approved several personnel and operational measures at its Nov. 11 regular meeting.

Council moved to name Sarah Haley as the village's full-time fiscal officer under Resolution 012-2024. The resolution specifies the employee will pay a monthly premium of $396 for medical/dental/vision coverage and that the village will cover remaining deductible costs up to $11,348 annually. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Councilmember Kendall Leland and seconded by Council President Tabitha Deeds; the roll call vote was recorded 5-0 (Councilmember Robin Sanborn absent).

The council also approved the hiring of Todd Wentz (position not specified in the minutes). The motion to hire was made by Councilmember Chad Lester and seconded by Council President Deeds; the motion passed by roll call, 5-0.

Council approved Resolution 013-2024, giving the Village consent to have snow plowing performed under the supervision of the Fairfield County Engineer. That motion was made by Council President Deeds and seconded by Mr. Gerald Selby and passed 5-0.

Other routine actions approved without recorded debate included acceptance of the financial report for the period and approval of Warthman's quote for a village project (vendor name recorded in the minutes as “WARTHMAN'S”). The council also appointed Gary Deeds to the Village Planning and Zoning Commission by a recorded vote of 5-0.

All affirmative votes recorded in the minutes show a 5-0 tally with one councilmember absent. The minutes indicate no public commentary during the meeting and list routine attachments including bank reconciliations and the Sugar Grove Police Department monthly report.

The council set its next regular meeting for Dec. 16, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. and adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
