Hebron staff flag possible larger reparations to Union Township after boundary conformity

Village Fiscal Officer Deborah Morgan informed council that, following the village’s boundary conformity last year, Union Township has requested reparations to account for lost tax revenue.
"Originally, the amount of the reparations was $226,982 and this year, the village received word that the amount will be much higher," Morgan said, and added she is looking into the figures to determine whether they are accurate and whether the village will need to amend appropriations.
Mayor Valerie Mockus said council had voted unanimously to conform the village boundaries and urged officials to "take the high road" and work in good faith with the township while staff verify the calculations.
Next steps: Mrs. Morgan will continue to review the township’s request and report back to council; no formal appropriation change was recorded at the meeting.
