Broken Bow council approves Eagle Crest 2nd Subdivision plans, authorizes bids

The Broken Bow City Council on Nov. 14 unanimously approved final plans and specifications for the Eagle Crest 2nd Subdivision and authorized staff to advertise the project for bids. The motions passed on roll call votes with councilmembers voting aye: Russ Smith, Paul Holland and Chris Myers.

Ryan Kavan of JEO Consulting Group presented an overview of the cost and scope of work to be performed under the subdivision plan. When CEDC representative Keith Ellis asked for a timeframe, Kavan said the project should be completed in the fall of 2024 and that bids would be issued the week after Thanksgiving.

Councilmember Russ Smith moved to approve the final plans and specifications; Paul Holland seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. Smith then moved — and Holland seconded — authorization to advertise for bids; that motion also passed on a unanimous roll call.

The authorization to advertise starts the procurement process that will allow contractors to submit proposals for construction work under the approved specifications. No construction contract award was made at the meeting; the council limited action to approving plans and authorizing the bid advertisement.

Next steps: staff will publish the bid notice per the motion and JEO will accept and evaluate bids when they are received. The council did not specify a project cost figure in the meeting minutes.
