Broken Bow approves revised interlocal agreement with Custer County Communications Center; city share reduced to 35%

The Broken Bow City Council voted unanimously on May 26 to approve a revised Interlocal Cooperative Agreement with the Custer County Communications Center.
City Administrator David Schmidt told the council the multi-year update reflects extensive work between city and county staff. The principal changes, as summarized by Schmidt, are: the city’s share of operating expenses dropped from 45% to 35%; the agreement term decreased from a 99‑year term to three years to allow more frequent review; budgeting language ties the city’s obligation to 35% of the previous year’s operating expenses (excluding equipment); any county request that exceeds 3% of the prior year's ask will require council approval, and if the council rejects the request an automatic 3% increase will be applied with notice to exit the agreement; and the oversight committee was restructured to require quarterly meetings.
Schmidt said the agreement was approved by the County earlier on May 26. Council approved the agreement (motion by Councilmember Paul Holland, seconded by Councilmember Joe Wamsley; roll‑call 4–0).
