At the April 28 meeting of the Athens-Ben Epps Airport Authority, Nell Warnes of Athens-Clarke County Planning described the MACORTS regional transportation program and shared her research on a proposed local rail circuit. Warnes said her work explores how a rail circuit could affect transportation projects and developments in Athens-Clarke County and expressed appreciation for collaboration with the airport.
Chair Diane B. Napier announced that she and Airport Manager Mike Mathews will meet with Stacee Farrell (KACCB) and Jeanne Connell (ACC Landscape Management) to tour the airport and identify locations and suggestions for a beautification plan; a report is expected at the Authority's May meeting.
Napier also reminded attendees that Jessica Turner, AHN Tower Manager, is scheduled to present at the May meeting on "Safety Issues at AHN and other Airports in the Region," the third guest presentation in the Authority's new monthly series.
The Authority's meeting minutes record no formal action on the MACORTS proposal; Warnes's remarks were taken as an informational presentation. The board adjourned at 4:24 p.m.
