Council grants developer extension while flood mitigation details are finalized for Lakeland Meadows

Economic & Community Development Director Brittany Misner told council that Pulte Group requested an extension to June 30 to finalize details with a property owner and complete a development agreement for the Lakeland Meadows subdivision. Misner said Pulte’s engineers reviewed recent flooding and the company hopes proposed channel work on the development will aid village flood mitigation efforts. Misner said the village is coordinating with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, other entities, and the village’s own engineers to ensure proposed solutions meet requirements.
Councilmember Jerry Carpenter moved to grant the extension to June 30 so the village and Pulte can resolve outstanding engineering and mitigation questions; the motion passed unanimously. Mayor Valerie Mockus said the village has been discussing flood mitigation in relation to the development and emphasized interagency coordination.
No formal approvals of project plans or mitigation measures occurred at the meeting; the extension preserves Council’s ability to act after final technical and legal review.
