The Jenkinsburg City Council voted July 28 to recommend a special exception allowing a woodworking and cabinetry home-occupation at 151 Oak St.
Council Member Gary Roberts moved to recommend the special exception, and Council Member Gary Brown seconded. The council voted unanimously to recommend approval.
The council recorded nine conditions tied to the approval, including that the business must carry an annual business license; operate only during normal hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; limit clients onsite to two at a time; limit employees to two on premises at a time; store inventory indoors with no outside storage; and mitigate sound, vibrations, odors and particulates so as not to create a nuisance to neighbors. The city’s record states the accessory structure is approximately 4,000 square feet.
Mayor Pro-Tem Jason Watts opened the public hearing and the council heard comments both supporting and opposing the request before closing public comment. No further council action or appeals were recorded in the minutes.
The council’s recommendation applies only to woodworking and cabinet-making and associated activities as specified in the special-exception approval. The meeting adjourned at 7:52 p.m.
