Council approves house rebuild, accepts finances and announces town events

The North High Shoals Town Council on Nov. 17 unanimously approved a request to rebuild a home at 274 Gober Road that had been destroyed by fire. Shannon Smith‑SengStack asked the council for permission to rebuild the house "exactly as it was before the fire," according to the minutes; Council Member Fred Johnson moved to grant the request, Council Member Eric Carlson seconded, and the motion passed 5–0.
The council also handled routine business. A motion to accept the Oct. 27 draft minutes was approved with a 3–0 vote; Council Member Meagan Cundiff is recorded as abstaining. The October 2025 financial statement was approved 4–0 after a motion by Council Member Eric Wright and a second from Council Member Fred Johnson.
Under unfinished business, Pat Sibley reported that North High Shoals will partner with the Town of Bishop in Oconee County's 250th anniversary celebration on June 20, 2026; Sibley reported there was nothing substantive to report yet. The minutes note a Little Free Little Library will be presented to the town on Nov. 29 at 10:00 a.m. in the park and that the local newspaper has been notified. The Town Christmas party was scheduled for Friday evening, Dec. 5, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Town Hall.
Mayor Stephen Goad recorded no mayoral update. With no further business, Council Member Eric Carlson moved to adjourn, Council Member Fred Johnson seconded, and the body adjourned at 8:23 p.m. The minutes were signed "Respectfully submitted, Sue Bishop, Town Clerk."
