Council rescinds November rezoning, then approves new R‑1 rezoning and subdivision for 2351 Elder Road Extension

Following the public hearing, Scott Chambers presented a new rezoning request for the same property during the regular Town Council meeting. Council member Hilda Kurtz moved to rezone the property to R‑1; Council member Eric Wright seconded. The council voted 5–0 to approve the rezoning.
Council member Meagan Cundiff then moved to grant the applicant’s request to subdivide the property at 2351 Elder Rd. Ext., with the stipulation that all requirements documented by the Oconee County Planning Department on Nov. 17, 2025 be included in the approval; Council member Hilda Kurtz seconded and the motion passed 5–0. The minutes note that a County Planning Department Staff Report from Nov. 17, 2025 is part of the record and that the subdivision approval is conditioned on those documented requirements.
No public opposition is recorded in the minutes. The council’s actions were recorded as unanimous votes. The public hearing was adjourned at 7:24 PM; the regular meeting continued and concluded with the council adjourning at 8:36 PM.
